Genesis Questions

Hi all —

Been sorta stuck on making any kind of move to Genesis. All of my outfits, poses, animations, are all M4/V4.

So, two questions — 1) Have people been able to successfully work with all Genesis figures in Carrara? In the past, it’s seemed like kind of a headache. And 2) Among those who have made the switch, did you ever find a way to bring your V4/M4 outfits, poses and animation files with you?

Thanks

    - When I use Daz figures, I'd say that 80% of the time I use G2F and G2M, another 10% of the time I use Genesis 1,  probably 5% for V4/M4 and earlier, and 5% Genesis 3 and later.

    - I regularly use V4 and M4 content with all generations.  If I want to use V4/M4 content with V3/M3 or earlier, I use Poser's Wardobe Wizard to convert.  I also use Wardrobe Wizard to convert Poser content to V4/M4 to be adapted again to another gneration.

    - If I want to use V4/M4 content with Genesis 1 or later, I use Daz Studio to convert.  Daz Studio's transfer utility can be used to convert content designed for V4/M4 to genesis, and then from genesis to Genesis 2, and then from... all the way up the line.  Then save the result out as a scene subset or a wearable preset.  Then use in Carrara.

EDIT:  Can also go from Michael 3 to Genesis.  Just use Poser Wardrobe Wizard to go from M3 to M4 (if have the preset) and the Studio M4 to Genesis.  I have a set of historical uniforms and similar clothing made for Poser's Simon 7 that I convert to Michael 4 using Poser wardrobe wizard, and then to Genesis 2 Male using Studio transfer utility.

NOTE - I don't know about pose sets, animation sets, etc.   I don't own the converter product by Zevo.  That could be a problem for converting for you.  Maybe someone else knows about those issues.

I use the entire range from V4/M4 to G8F/M, Misty's G3F/G3M and G8F/M require a bit of additional work. Again like Diomede I use Daz Studio as a plugin for clothing and conversions.

    when I do use G, I use G1 & G2 mainly... and use genx to trans morphs from G G2 & G3 between each other ..

I also use V4, M4 content with Genesis..

I haven't bought anything G8 and very few G3 content... I usually purchase M & V4 content from Rendo and use on Genesis.

I don't do animation so can't say about that.

The following pose conversion sets by Zev0 which I have and use :-

( I use this for M4 as well)

    Freebies

and another one that does Genesis to G2 to G3 to G8 conversions http://www.sharecg.com/v/89846/favorite/8/Script/Daz3d-Pose-Converter-Standalone

Overall the Pose conversions work well, but may need some slight adjustment where for example a hand or arm position has not converted fully.

Don't know about animation, maybe Wendy can chime in with some words of advice.
