Me too!  LOL He'll be fun to work on, that's for sure.  I have two in the works now, so they will have to get done before I can work on him, but he's in the list finally!

.........That may be the thing to push me into mustache making.  XD

Well, I think on FB, whereas I use to get posts from my friends with 'wise quotes' supposedly attributed to either Einstein or Monroe, now the biggest majority of memes are using Sam Elliot's picture, usually as a cowboy.

Don't forget the mustache...can't do Sam Elliot memes without that mustache...

Ok!   SO, thank you to everyone who made the first morph collection I've done a success; I'm very glad it was well recieved.  As stated before, I will definitely be making another-but probably not for another month or so.  The next character, however, from the challenge list below will be chosen!

The All-My-Tee Randomizer chose: Sam Elliott

Not to be greedy or anything, but is there any possibility "Elyot" will include "a dial preset for Zev0's Aging Morphs for Genesis 8 Male(s) to give him a more aged appearance" like you did for Liam. Sam Elliott was a handsome man in his youth, as well as in his maturity. It would be wonderful to have both the young and the old as presets.

I'll buy him regardless, of course…

That would be a mighty mighty stache to start with. Though maybe big and bushy is easier as a starting point?

I certainly can't wait to see what you come up with for Sam.

He sure is a hansome man even now!!

  • Carola OCarola O Posts: 3,823

Sam was handsome as a youth, and even more so now. One of those that get more handsome as they age it seems :)

  • DarwinsMishapDarwinsMishap Posts: 4,087

I agree- he is a good lookin' man, young and old.

As for the 'stache; it is a mighty 'stache, but if I'm going to try it, I'm gonna go big or go home. ;)

And yes, I'll be adding a preset (maybe a few) that will utilize Zev0's aging morphs.  Definitely.  I haven't gotten that good with zbrush as of yet to work my own magic-still practing in the few free hours I actually have here and there when not working at work and here at home. lol

As for one of those two works currently taking up my time; a sneak peek.  He's wearing Gage's skin, as his morphing isn't complete and I haven't started his.  Still working on the facial structure.

    Happy dance!

And the new guy has great cheekbones. Thanks for the sneak peek!

Keller is a mix between Ishimoto (50%), Ravi (50%) and Giovanni (20%), with the textures from Ravi. Than there is your Christian out of the box, even if we don't see that much of him :)

    Prisoner Secured

Robotic female voice - "Transferring call to Colonel Marsh."

    "Marsh here, report."

"Prisoner secured sir, I've sent for Bell to pick us up."

    "Good job Keller, any problems?"

Keller kept silent for a few beats as he glanced at the two soldiers he had put as guards for the prisoner, neither of them moving yet he could clearly read the concern and shame in their faces and their body language.

"Nothing I couldn't handle sir." A brief smile played on his lips as a memory surfaced. The other line was silent before a chuckle came through, amusement clear in Marsh's voice as he spoke.

"Those words sure bring back memories" another chuckle were heard before he countinued "Report to me when you are back at base, Marsh out."

"I'll be there, Keller out." Keller half turned to look at the two soldiers, and when he spoke none of the earlier amusement were heard. "Eleven years ago two other soldiers were in a similar situation as you two, they worked it out and went on to make good progress in the unit and climbed the ranks. This is your one and only chance, don't let me down."

The two soldiers looked at eachother for a moment, than back at their current squad leader, before one of them finally asked "Who were those soldiers, sir?"

Keller smirked lightly as he turned around to watch as the pick up squad arrived, his voice deeply amused as he finally replied "Me and Marsh."

    That's awesome, Carola, thank you!

Sorry I've been so quiet- been working on a collab, and Tathar as well in Zbrush.  When I get what I did fixed, I'll post a screen shot. ;)

Actually- this is what I gotta fix:

    Updates soon!

Thank you :) Working on a scene that would show off Keller a bit better, but ran into a snag with a product I had planned to use in it lol.

That looks like a helluva scar...or a face marking/tatto of some kind... hmm... you got me well and truly curious now :)

Im going to second this.  That man has been hot his entire life...

It will be some scarring, yes- Haven't had a chance to work on it tonight, but will a bit before crashing.

As for "Elyot" I may end up calling him John, just to keep it simple. XD  I'll be working on him soon(ish) after Tathar - Mr. Sneak Peek up there. ;)

On a side note: People will see an update for the Dragon Empresses Character set- I found one of the figure's eye corrective morphs were hooked to G8F rather than her head morph, so I corrected that and sent it in for everyone else's files to be corrected.  It went live today.

  • DarwinsMishapDarwinsMishap Posts: 4,087

    Teaser!

JUST started the skin on him; no body morphs yet.

The skin's been updated since this was rendered, too, so it's a tad bit different-but you get the basic idea

  • SaphirewildSaphirewild Posts: 6,669

Wow I can almost feel his pain from that scar!!!

  • DarwinsMishapDarwinsMishap Posts: 4,087

Thanks!  Now, if I can get the textures good enough to show... lol

  • DarwinsMishapDarwinsMishap Posts: 4,087

So here is a peek of his base skin with the starting idea of the scarring (texture-wise).  Testing out how it looked without the HD morph so far, to see if I matched the tonal range of a burn on such fair skin:

This is with the HD Morph added (SubD 3); The bottom needs shifted, and more added and I need to shift it away from the scarring going down the cheek, jaw and to the area where the jaw meets the neckline.  The top- not bad.  Need to add more to the top areas of the HD morph and along the side of his head/ear but it's getting there.

  • SaphirewildSaphirewild Posts: 6,669

If you want my honest opinion I think the HD morph is going a little off the scaring.

Is there anyway to bring it down some?

  • nonesuch00nonesuch00 Posts: 18,163

Interesting modeling exercise you have going on there. I've only known one person that has facial scarring from a bad burn and his scarring was redder, glossier, prominently raised, and the individual scars thicker. Poor fellow but he was a happy-go-lucky kid after the pain & healing had finished. I suppose each case can be significantly different though.

One texture note: with scarring that heavy, the end of the eyebrow would most likely be gone.

Yes you make a very good point there @vwrangler!

Thank you, everyone, for the input.

Yeah- the eyebrow is mesh, so that hasn't been looked at yet.  At this point I am merely fiddling to see if I can get anything I like that would represent what I am going after before going into those details.

If this doesn't pan out the way I want it to look, it will be dropped for more fiddling-perhaps for a future project.  Right now, it's like toying with an idear. lol

For now, though, I think I'm going to put it aside while I work on the rest of his morphs and the actual base skin and additions.  It's a promising start, but not good enough, I think, that will make it into a final product just yet.

I really like the heavier scarring idea.  Would work very well for a recurring character.  will be watching with interest to see where it goes, when you get back to it.

Wanted to share this here, both characters contains a few Darwin boys :) I got quite fond of my Keller morph, might end up doing a little serie with him.. time will tell :) Keller is the darkhaired one, Marsh the redhead :)

    Keller morph:
Ravi 50% (RedzStudio), Ishimoto 50% (Darwin), Giovanni 20% (Darwin). Using Ravi's textures.

    Marsh morph:
Liam 65% (Darwin), Kyle 20% (Darwin), Foster 15% (ChangelingChick), Ryker 20% (RedzStudio). Using Liam's textures

    Downtime

Colonel Marsh and his second in command, Commander Keller, is having some food in the cafeteria when two unruly recruits approach them for a brawl. For a moment the two simply look at the recruits, than the eyes of Keller and Marsh meet and with a chuckle from Keller they accept the challenge.

The two recruits have not yet realised whom exactly they have challenged, but they soon find out they are in way over their heads.

Very cool, Carola!  Thank you for posting this!

Ok- so, I've had to make an executive edit on Tathar's scars.  I will keep working on the idea-but for a future project.  Right now, my skills aren't where I need them to be to get them to do what I envision in my head and I'm not going to put it into a product until it does.

Secondly; I've started John - the Sam Elliot inspired character.  I'll first post the basic front and 3/4 views for the base morph, my added details, and the last will be with my preset for Zev0's aging dials for his head morph.  The last two will be with him in an outfit, Changeling Chick's Beard Boss, and Victor 8's skin (which will show you the imporance of good textures over morphs).  His skin will take a while, since I want to get a really good quality base before adding in textures for the aged version of him.  I have a reference photo set I think I'm going to use for him.

Base head - these are all with Gage's skin textures:

    Base and my add on:

Base, my add on, and my dial for Zev0's Aged Preset:

Now with my base, my aged add on and Victor 8 Skin:

Again- with my base, my add on, and my dial for Zev0's Aged Preset (not fully rendered, I was impatient:

So- definitely will need to pay particular attention to detail in this one's skin set. :D

I agree, the skin is really important, he looks good so far though and certainly looking forward to see more *shameless grin* as for the pic, I did end up making a serie of Keller, the last pic of him is posted in my gallery - Series. Should you and others want to see :) Was uncertain if I should post more of him here so felt better to just talk :)

Um ... what on earth is "Victor 8"?

A suggestion and take it for what it's worth: maybe add some marionette lines or some such in the nose/mouth area for the older preset? Compared to the rest of his face, it looks very smooth.

    Bah.  Vladimir.  My bad. XD

Oh, he's not done yet- there'll be more to come, and that is definitely part of the process for further character work into his facial structure.

Been working with Tathar's skin using photo resources and a mix of MR's to make an updated texture set.  I've finished the diffuse, and am working on the bump, spec, high pass, normal and specs now, but here he is so far:
