mcjHoldOn - 2018 Update - animation helper : hand/foot orientation stabilizer

that's my old 2012 script which i ( and others!) still use to this day

https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts2/mcjholdo

example: you select a door handle, then select the hand of a figure holding that handle

you animate your figure moving around, maybe pulling on the handle

now your figure's hand is not holding the handle at all during the animation ! except for the first frame

so you use my other script mcjAutoLimb to keep the hand (wrist) location fixed for the duration of the animation

then you use mcjJoldOn to keep the hand orientation fixed, relatively to the handle

You can now type in the desired range

There's a web-Help button that will sent your browser to the release page

can also be used for the very tricky bike pedaling animations

    Thanks, Great Tool.

  • Very nice all of your scripts are gold. Thank you

  • I agree, this add-on is pretty solid, but I wonder if it keeps the hands in sync with a wide knee-length (flared) skirt?

I think it would also be a good idea to update the add-on to allow the legs to cling onto the inside of a slimmer skirt too.

it's probably not evident but one could use my mcjApplique script

    https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts7/mcjapplique

to get a null node to follow the skirt-edge location

then mcjAutolimb to make the arm pose keep the hand to follow the skirt-edge node

and mcjHoldOn would take care of the hand orientation

here the 6 big buttons on the shorts are animated to stay on the shorts using mcjApplique

( because the way figure works the buttons would be stretched and squeezed if they were part of the shorts figure )

note that Amy Ombrey's hands are kept at their positions and orientations *relative to the hip* using mcjAutoLimb and mcjHoldOn
