BRYCE RENDERING CHALLENGE Inaugural Challenge NEW BEGINNINGS. WE HAVE WINNERS
OK here we go, let's see if we can get this on the road, so to speak
So the first ever DAZ 3D Bryce rendering Challenge
___________________________________________
Theme for this month is "New Beginnings"
__________________________________
This thread is the WIP thread, so you can post here to show us how things are coming along before transferring the render to the actual Contest thread for judging.
Rules
~~~~~
All renders must be new renders.
You can enter up to 3 renders.
You must abide by the DAZ 3D forum TOS
Imported content is allowed, but the render must be obviously a Bryce render.
Post Work permitted, but please keep it to a minimum.
Rules may be changed for subsequent Challenges, depending on the theme and the person who has selected it.
The winner of the April Challenge will get the chance to name the theme for the June contest.
This will then continue with subsequent winners choosing the theme for the next but one contest, which will enable a new contest to start with the
minimum of delay between contests.
Whoever nominates the subject for the Challenge can modify the rules to suit that challenge.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Challenge ends on 28th April Midnight DAZ 3D time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A $20 DAZ 3D gift certificate will be given to the person whose render is selected as the best, by a judging method which has yet to be clarified.
ENTRIES ONLY THREAD
Comments
Please only add your completed renders in this thread. TO make it easier for judging.
Depending how many entries we get as to how I will set the vote up. Unfortunately Polls on this new forum only support 12 options at maximum, and I hope we have more than that.
I reserve the right to move any posts that are not an entry image :coolsmile:
Here's my entry, "a new beginning":
Here are my three entries.
Here is my "cottage" entry.
Here is my" New House in the Woods" entry
Title:
"A New Beginning"
Software used:
Bryce 7.1
DAZ Studio 4.5 (Bridge)
Content Used:
Tulip - Lisa's Botanicals (DAZ)
Nuked Buildings - Spacebones
Here’s my first entry and probably my last too as I don't think I can finish my second one before the deadline :(
“Taintless Paradise”
Rendered in Bryce 7.1 Pro
64 RPPs, True Ambience (TA Scattering Correction) and Soft Shadows
Took almost 16 hours to render @ 1280x800
Everything was done and set up in Bryce, with the exception of the balloons which are models from archive3d.net with some slight changes.
Here is my second and last entry called New cabin on the lake
Here's my two entries...
OK, I know they are really the same entry with some tweaks but hey... :-)
My entry: Warm morning light
Bryce + GIMP
Cells made in Wings 3D. Rendered in Bryce (20 minutes). Text and border added in PSP8.
WIP - done
Too late for a third one, but here are my 2 entries :
OK this was interesting. I ended up asking some of the CV team to act as judges. Szark had already volunteered so I asked more to volunteer. All have played around with Bryce,
11 people who entered. 16 renders in all, almost all got at least one vote.
Had to ask himself (my other half) to vote, to give me a tie breaker. Apart from the first place it was very tight actually
so the winners
1st place Sean Riesch
2nd place Mr Silus
3rd place TheSavage64
Judged by 6 members of the CV team + plus him indoors.
So Sean, Mr Silus and Dave, if you can PM me your login email I can arrange to get the credit transferred to your accounts. I have decided to do $20 as promised for the 1st, and $5 each for 2nd and 3rd.
And you get to choose the theme for the June challenge, if we are still going strong.
Yay, thanks! And congrats to the other winners.
How about a May theme of "Unexpected"? That gives lots of leeway for personal preference of subject matter, but might still pose a challenge to create renders that fit the theme best. Or if people don't like that idea, I can try to come up with other ideas too.
It would also be good if we could find a way to get more people involved in the contests as well, although I'm not sure what the best way to do that is. Hopefully if this becomes a regular event that people expect in the calendar more and more people will know and/or find out about it. I really hope that those of you who posted WIPs in the WIP thread but decided not to enter into this contest will still submit entries into future contests!
so it goes - I didn't judge - so don't blame me
Congrats to the winners and thanks to those who participated. All are very nice renders.
Well done winners! C-ram's image really put me in mind of some of Pam's scenes, very rich in detail and pastelley? I've had to make that last word up. But hopefully you get the meaning. Very nice scene, fairy-tale.
Ahah I am not the only person who likes to pastellise things :coolsmile:
Congratulations to the winners! There were some great images posted:)
