Greetings,
@xyer0 Unfortunately the V4 and Genesis Female UVs appear to be different. The above picture is the texture assigned to the V4 to G8F geoshell.
When I assign the texture to a Genesis body, it assigns the UV 'Genesis Female', and if I tweak the Genesis body use V4's UV, it's clearly brokwn and different. From that I'm unfortunately concluding that the Genesis Female and V4 UV's are definitely different.

My apologies, I wonder if there's a trick to this, though, since Cayman didn't provide Genesis Base UV utilities for Genesis 3 either.
You could use Map Tranfer to convert maps from Genesis base UVs to V4, then the V4 to G8F product with the converted maps.
CypherFOX, I didn't do a Genesis Base UVs conversion (Male or Female) because so few characters actually use them, usually monsters or other specialist creatures, and they usually have peculiar morphs or geografts which cannot be used on Genesis 3 or 8 in any case. The Foxy and Wolfie characters you mention seem to be like that.
Most Genesis characters use V4, M4, V5 or M5 UVs. As Leana says you can use the Map Transfer facility (tutorial: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/95701/tutorial-converting-custom-genesis-2-uvs-to-genesis-3) to convert Base Genesis UVs before using one of the Legacy UVs products, but you may still face an obstacle with the Fox and Wolf geografts.
Greetings,
Yeah, I've written off the geografts as not going to work; I just want to transfer the texture over because between it and a new really nicely done tail that was released, it gives a toonish appearance of a fox-girl, with all the morphs and HD that come along with being a Genesis 8 character.
Thanks to the directions, I managed this image with G8F, after a lot of tweaking to the materials.

Having an issue.
I used the https://www.daz3d.com/character-converter-from-genesis-2-female-to-genesis-8-female- to convert LY Dominique which uses G8F UVs. That went fine. I applied Lyra's and Sorrell's G8F skins and that went fine, too. But I wanted to see what she and other characters would look like with their old materials, so I bought this product.
I selected the converted G8 Dominique and did the Prepare step. So far still so good. I get a purple and white Dominique.
Then I went to the step "Apply the Legacy Material files in the normal way by navigating to the required folders and clicking the icons." Now, after the "Prepare" step, you end up with G8F, the lashes, and the Geograft selected. I tried to apply the materials to what was selected, and my Daz hung. I closed Daz and then tried again with only the character selected. Daz hung. Then I tried with the geograft selected. Same result.
What am I doing wrong?
Sevrin, I have been unable to reproduce the error you describe. I have loaded ordinary Genesis 8 Females as well as those converted using RiverSoft Art's Character Converter from G2F in both the current public build and the Beta. I don't have LY Dominique, so I couldn't test that. Do you have this problem with any other character, or even if trying to apply the LY Dominique textures to an unconverted Genesis 8?
I apologize. I was just impatient. I let it cook for a few minutes longer and DS finally applied the texture. I also tried applying it to the base G8F character. It applied to the converted character, and put things where they belong, but not everywhere.
The G1 default UV is pretty much the same as V4. But I think all of the named character bases had individual UVs. G1 could take V4, M4 and K4 UVs pretty much out of the box, but V4 was pretty much the default.
Just purchased the Legacy G2F to G8F UVs product. I tried to convert the Gia Tiziana textures, and this is how it ended up. Is this the best I should expect, and if so how do I fix it? Thanks
Oops, well that's what I get for not exploring the thread more carefully! Forgot there might have been more than ONE page! Discovered that it looks like I'll have to use Map Transfer to convert the UVs to Base Female first.
Yes, I think Gia's Tiziana texture is the only Genesis 2 texture that uses the Gia UV Set. The vast bulk of Genesis 2 Female textures (several hundred) use the Base Female UVs, and about a hundred use Victoria 5 UVs, with perhaps thirty or forty using Victoria 6. These have their own Legacy UVs conversion product. For all the other character UVs (like Olympia, Monique, Mei Lin etc.) which only have about one or two textures each, you can use the Map Transfer.
Genesis 8.1 Female has been released by DAZ today. I have provided updates for all four Genesis 8 Female Legacy UVs products: Victoria 4, Victoria 5, Victoria 6 and Genesis 2 Female, and they should be available now through DIM and other download methods. The scripts have been amended to accommodate the new figure and surface changes, and there are new UV Sets for the new 8.1 Eyelashes mesh. The operation of the products should be as before.
If you have any problems or questions please let me know.
Thank you!
Wow that is great, thank you :)
Yes indeed. Thank you very much.
I just tried to use the Legacy UV for G2M and it doesn't transfer all the ear morphs when I ran the Preparet G8M script. In fact, it took them off the character. What's going on? I sort of thought a geoshell inherited all the morphs of the original character. Is there a way to fix this?
Interesting... but that still leaves my elf without ears. I did find out that I could somewhat apply the morphs to the geograft. They weren't exact but closer than after the Prepare script.
Look at the parameter settings of the morph to see if Auto Follow is checked. Normally it will be checked but occasionally morphs are released with it unchecked. Once you have checked the Auto Follow you will need to reload the geografts, so remove them from the scene and rerun the Prepare script.
Well, drat! I just "fixed" all my G8M ear morphs to NOT follow because I got tired of hair problems.
Well, you don't have to resave the morphs or anything - just check the Auto Follow prior to loading the geografts. (You can put the hair on first, then check Auto Follow, then load the geografts - that should do it!)
I just puchased and installed Legacy UVs for Genesis 8/Victoria 4. I used Daz Central to install. It's not working with 8.1. It says "You must select a Genesis 8 Female figure in the Scene before running this script."
Hey, doug. That is a generic message that appears if the figure, whether Genesis 8 Female or Genesis 8.1 Female, is not actually selected. I updated the script when Genesis 8.1 was released. You may have inadvertantly deselected the figure before running the script, so please check in the Scene tab to see what, if anything, is selected.
1. New scene. 2. Add Genesis 8.1 Basic Female actor to scene. 3. Make sure Gen8.1 is selected. 4. Click !Prepair button on toolbar. 5. Get error stating you must select Gen 8 Female.
I installed using DazCentral, which I'm not a fan of, but is so simple you can't really mess it up. Any chance there is an older version on Daz servers? There is no indication anywhere about 8.1 support.
Uninstalled, deleted folder, reinstalled, now it works. Something got messed up I guess. Seems to be working now. Thanks for the great product!
Raventhorn, well I can't say I know what went wrong but it's good that it's working now!
ALLIEKATBLUE, yes, all the Genesis 8 Legacy UV products, both male and female, were updated for Genesis 8.1 compatability as soon as the new figures were available.
