G3F Character morph to G8F... SIMPLE TOOL!!!!!!!

Seriously... I've posted about this topic several times, and none of the techniques I've been pointed to are working and I would like to know why.  But since I can't get a straight answer (and my frustration is seriously rising), this is what there should be.

I simple, slider based tool attatched to the clone feature which will allow you to slide the morphs for Genesis 8 to any previous generation or character... Slide G8F into Ophelia 7... or Mei Lin 6 without having to go through all the insanely confusing hoops that drive me batcrap crazy.

If it was simple you would have it, geez. It took months before the GenX utility could do this with generation 3 and you want the genesis 6 version 2 days after release.

When the big promotional push for Genesis 8 is "backwards compatibility" with older content, you better believe I (and a LOT of other people) do.

  • I have no idea why the tried and true techniques don't work for you, but they are likely the best available for a while, until someone steps up to replace Dimension3D, who died recently.

well 1) it seems as though every time DAZ Studio is updated, the instructions change because the interface changes.  It's little things at first... a certain tool may have moved to a different area in the menu or something was just completely taken out and 2) and this is a big one, there are some problems with some of the different models... Mei Lin for example, while you can import the morph, there are serious (and scary) deformations when using the power pose feature.

I don't have Mei Lin, but I suspect there are some joint control morphs used in conjunction with G3F to have her shape move properly when posed. This might be why she doesn't bend right in PowerPose on G4F.

That's exactly the issue. It's misleading marketing bullshit. It's no more compatible than G3f was by default. Actually it's less compatible. I'd have expected at least G3 poses to work, but they made sure even those don't work without issue. They could've made it compatible easily. Yet they choose not to. I can't believe I was the one defending DAZ a few months ago when someone said they were deliberately breaking compatibility with poser. Now I know they were right and I was the fool.

By default Genesis 3 Female could not use earlier textures and could directly convert only Genesis 2 Female clothing (Genesis 3 Male clothing was added when that figure launched). Genesis 8 Female can use Genesis 3 Female textrues and can diectly clothing from any existing Genesis #. So yes, it is more compatible than Genesis 3.

I use Eve7 textures on G8F. Looks fine to me.

When you had to tweak G3F poses if the character you were using was significantly different in size from what the character they were created for was, how is having to tweak the position of the arms and legs on a Genesis 4 Female any different?

The thing about backwards compatibility is the word "compatibility".  Many people confuse that word for "functionality".  The difference?  "Compatibility" only means that some of the previous generation content will work, and not necessarily flawlessly.  Like Genesis 3 textures on Genesis 8 (only the G3F Base UVs are supported), or G3 clothing on G8 through autofit (and when has autofit ever worked flawlessly?).  "Functionality"  means that previous generation content will work flawlessly - which we all know is not nor ever has been the case.

The good news is that we have talented members of this community who are figuring out how to make more content work with Genesis 8, from Redz converting morphs to a free pose adjustment script by DavidGB.
