Why uninstall?

RKane_1RKane_1 Posts: 3,037

I didn't ask to make an uninstall on every item I bought and I have over 600 files to try and uininstall.

What would happen if I didn't uninstall and just used the new installer to install all my content right over my content?

What about those I asked not to have an uninstaller with? Do I need to do anything special there?

Please let me know.

The major risk with installing over the currently installed version is if there were changes to file names or locations, the obsolete files would still be there. I know Adamr001m who has a huge content folder, just installed on top without uninstalling and the amount of cleanup he had to do was minimal.

I'm rather anal-retentive about such things and always install one item at a time and compare the files manually anyway.

I recommend exporting User data and resetting your database to get rid of old metadata, since DIM can uninstall metadata if it gets updated, but metadata from installers can't.
