I'm very grateful to all of you because I've asked for so many things you guys keep delivering up the goods so I thought once again I'll shoot for the moon or at the very least.. get some good feedback.  I'm off to go buy those space HDRI's I asked for.. #respect

I've got Greeble city but its not Iray and... it's not a Utopia... no park spaces, no skyscraper farms, no readily visible public transit...  and what if its easily populated with traffic... What about the "Back to the Future" future areas?   I gotta say that so far, I've been throwing ideas out and all of you have been doing an amazing job of creating the products...

What is the trick to getting things like make characters that look like different celebrities.. Is there a copyright issue or something because I think it would be awesome to be able to do political figures..  Just think of all the great pictures that could be made with a Donald character.

The other area is religion.. I'd still love to figure out how to make a good Jesus Character to make religious art...  Any ideas on getting the clothing and hair and props for Genesis 3... A cross.. nails... and a specialized character that has holes in the hands and feet...

What do you think?  Thanks in advance.

I did just realize I have "Utopia Blocks".. any chance of an Iray sequal?  Espially one that lights up at night... I have your "Urban Future 5".. Love it. I like that you make it so you can hide all the trash.LOL

"Utopia" can have several different looks.. one of which can be a future where everybody is extremely wealthy.. oppulance mixed with technology..buildings that are big eco farms...  Ah... the things you can do.. No doubt it will be amazing.. almost everything you do is. #respect   Keep up the great work... No doubt I'm always pleasantly surprised by the great qaulity you do.  Thanks for making this possible!

It's not that hard to convert. Most of it can just be auto converted to Iray base.

Anything that should glows needs a little more work, but usually once you get it worked out you can copy paste it into relevent bits.

I recently did two Greeble city shots in Iray using blocks 1 and 2 respectively (check out my DeviantArt gallery).

It took a little bit of work, but most of that was getting the sky, lighting, and haze to my liking.

Fortunately, Stonemason is GREAT about making the glowing bits different surfaces so yeah, you just pour Iray Uber Base over the top, then go into the appropriate surface and turn emissions from black to white and set the image map in the same field to the diffuse image map. Glowing windows!

I believe you will find that "most" of the characters for sale here are somewhat based on a (or possibly two) real person. Add to that the plethora of offerings on other sites(mostly at ShareCG and Rendo). My issue with a recreation of a real person is that, if used "straight-out-of-the-box" it looks like its intended victim. However, unless you are a rabid fan who's studied every nuance of expression and idiosyncracy, you rapidly lose the realism.

Again, elsewhere, there are some Christian-based models. Pappy411 is a good start to search on Rendo. But I don't think they moved to the G1-3 figures, so it's all M4 (and mostly Poser). ShareCG has a contributor that does faith-based poses. I think part of the issue with clothing from the Biblical era is its loose fit -- more suited to dynamic cloth than conforming.

A very cool pick... I was actually just using the base figures without changing any of the surfaces but I bet that Mr or Mrs. Stonemason will probably get pretty inspired after seeing the latest renderings of Greeble city... thanks for sharing with me... I'm still hoping to see some of the buildings that look like "Tomorrowland" ... I think they are up to the challange...

For the Crucifixion and similar scenes (blind Samson in the Philistine temple, martyrdom of St. Sebastian, etc), try the skirt from Spartan Warrior with the leather parts hidden, and the brown/tan texture that's included. (You will also find find the spear, sandals, and cape from this outfit useful). For sorta Greco-Roman civilian wear, try Greek God without armored bits and the spikes and leaves on the belt hidden using the surfaces tabs. For medieval/angelic/Ancient Middle-Easten outfits, try this dynamic outfit: https://www.daz3d.com/medieval-fantasy-dynamic-clothes-for-genesis-and-genesis-2

    or this other one: https://www.daz3d.com/angelic-dynamic-bundle-for-v4-and-m4

In both cases, you will probably need to skip the "fit to" step and instead position G3M or G3F inside the clothes, re-scaling and positioning arms and legs for the best fit, then setting up your preferred pose 30 frames into the animation timeframe and running an animated drape.

For the Stigmata wounds, your best bet is postwork. Look for blood smear or wound tutorials for the 2d picture editor of your choice: Photoshop, GIMP or Paint.net.

Toyen has a nun's habit and priest's cassock in the pre-1970s style, over at Rendo. I have both, only had time to play with the cassock. Badly needs more sleeve morphs (especially length) but otherwise okay. Meshitup has an all-purpose "Ancient World" robe don't own it yet: https://www.daz3d.com/warrior-monk-for-genesis-3-male-s

For Roman soldiers, your best bet is still Xurge3D's Imperator set for M4 at his website. With Wear Them All and Sickleyield's autofit tools, I managed to get most of it onto G3M, except the belts and cape. (Had to parent and scale the helmets rather than autofitting them). Looks pretty good in Iray once you control-click the appropriate shaders into place (I used Iray Uber Base Iron Preset, DesignAnvil's Cloth, and one of Slosh's hair shader sets for the horsehair parts of the helmet).

Crosses for crucifixion: create a square primitive, scale it into a rectangle, apply wood shaders, duplicate and reposition the duplicate as crossbeam. Save as prop preset if you like.

Hair: Historical Curls is your friend, so long as you know how to scale and translate a prop hair. Looks great with Slosh's hair shaders: https://www.daz3d.com/historical-curls

Use of politicians' likenesses for satire is fair game, although once near-photorealism becomes the norm instead of a rare fluke that happens when the artist and the content is firing on all cylinders, that may change. Faking semi-convincing stills and footage of living people wouldprobably  bring a world of trouble down on the artist's head.

Amusingly, I totally forgot I had Utopia (because it's under Props and not Cityblocks).

    So played around with it.

I found it middling difficulty in conversion. The biggest problem was making a decent grass model that would hold up at this range (and I just got rid of the hedge). I ended up placing a plane with 512 divisions, subd 2, and using the grass texture from utopia with ~-.25 to .25 Displacement and 16x16 tiling to get the grass looking reasonably right. (I had originally tried putting in grass models but it sucked up too much resources and didn't look right)

The rest of it was just being sure to grab the MAP_a and putting it into Emission channel, which isn't... super hard. (Emission color white, temp 0, luminosity ~20 and /cm3 scale)

So. Yeah. The funny thing was that the hard part was the freakin' grass.
(I had also attempted to do this in 3DL, but I hit the point where trying to get the lighting right takes forever and then the whole thing takes a long time AND you can't as cleanly pull the plug when it's good enough)
