I think Bollywood would make a good theme for a merchandise event.

    I saw a Indian Elephant with the typical famous Indian style mount on it by noggin today in the DAZ Store. There is not much Indian stuff or other cultures to the degree you'd think there would be.

    It's disappointing that there hasn't been a saree since Victoria Three.  I fell in love with them while working in Dubai many years ago and brought several back for my wife and daughter.  Someone made a Vicky Four character some time back that was supposed to resemble Aishwariya Rai but it didn't.

    Yes, I was thinking about all the wonderfully bright saris people might make for Bollywood characters. I'm not personally looking for a sari, but I think they'd sell!  I'm sure the props and characters associated with the Bollywood theme would be interesting to me.

    I think I've seen at least 2 very nice looking characters for G3F in the store that were Indian but can't really recall the names.

    I may be wrong, but until a lady appears in a game or sci-fi movie looking hot in a sari, you won't see one... or any other culture.

    Correction: until Daz gives us proper dynamic tools you probably won't get one.  If they do ever give us proper dynamics you'll very likely get one from me, and an ao dai and hanbok are also on my list.  I make what I like, not what popular culture decides I should like.  There is an Indian female main character in a video game (Uncharted), she even made the front page of Game Informer magazine which made me very happy. Not wearing a sari as far as I know, probably for the same reason I haven't made one yet.. absolute hell to rig properly.  I'm anal retentive about rigging, if I don't think I can rig something with near perfection I don't do it.  It took me 3 solid weeks to rig one little mid-thigh length egyptian skirt.. 47 custom JCMs just for the thighs.  Now make that floor length and with flowing cloth across the most lumpy and morph-changing part of a woman's body..  Could I model one?  Sure, would only take me a couple days to make one that worked nicely in Marvelous Designer..  However rigging it would take way more time than I would ever get compensated for (like litterally more than a month) if I priced it low enough to actually sell (IE: not more than about $20 before sales)

    Well, I agree with the dynamic tools needs because I did buy a kimono and was forced to pose my character one or two ways. Doesn't allow for much fun or creativity when creating a scene.

    Arki has Neo India Outfit for G2F and G3F. There's a Surat Spice Bundle with Indian characters and clothing for G2F. Chevybabe25 did Draupadi for G3F, who is very beautiful. FW did Sushmita and Her Jewerly for V7. I know I saw some really cool Indian stuff in renapd's store over at Rendo. It's older- for V3 and M3, but VERY well done, with many pieces and textures. Look for Maharajah for M3 and Maharani for V3. (By the way, her store is 50% off right now.) V3 and M3 items can be brought forward to newer generations using Gen 3 Iconic Shapes for Genesis and Wear Them All for G3F and G3M. Fit them to Genesis, then fit again to G3F or G3M.

    Thanks Fisty, I should put a disclaimer in my footer. I am not, nor have I ever been a gamer. I couldn't even master Mario Cart back in the 90s. blush My issue around the frequency with which models offered are heavily inspired by a game, movie, or graphic novel (or, all of the above, often). A case in point, I spent over a week creating a mock-up of a National Geographic cover using a lovely alien girl (Dariofish's product). It garnered no, 0, zilch, notice because it was basically a piece of fan art to everyone else. I only found out when I Googled the Dariofish's race-name for it and found all the game references. Obviously, this is not always the case, but happens often with characters and vehicles. My rambling point is, I wish more PAs created original works or more obviously stated from where they were inspired.

  • Sometimes people are going to see similarities where none are intended, even if a PA does create something unique.

    That's very true and easily forgiven. Especially with iconic designs such as the warp nacelles on a Star Trek vessel. For years every ship had nacelles.

    I love this! Very cool piece of artwork. I don't game much either. Not because I don't like them. I actually LOVE them. If I gamed, I would fall down a black hole, never to return. My family would starve to death waiting for me to get off the computer. Art and writing are safer, LOL.

    Thank you, Llynara! I'm not sure about the art being much different than games. I can lose 4-6 hours so easily. With all those mouths (human and chicken) calling your name (yes, I read your Amazon bio) I'm surprised you have time for art or writing.

    Funilly enough, stuff like this is exactly the sort of thing I love to place out as room-clutter and floor-clutter.  I've grabbed several different mock magazine covers from online, such as Playbeing covers (with anime characters and video game characters as the featured beauty), or bizzare space-travel book covers, and then turned them into props and placed them out in my virtual world home on one of the opensim worlds.  Basically, I took the cover image, applied it to a plank-prim (flattened cube-primitive) of the right size and shape, doctored up a spine title for it and maybe a different image for the back, applied those, rezzed it on a table or shelf, and away we are to the races.

    Agree completely Now that I develop my own content
    I quickly learned about the "Do not approach Zones" when making
    conforming shirts and other upper body clothing
    Thankfully I know how to model my own Dynamic Clothing as well as conformers and can use my own Dynamic clothing in Daz studio  with the >>REDACTED<< from rosity.
