Exporting Higher Poly Rigged Characters

It seems like I get a fairly high mesh resolution when exporting as an OBJ, but when I try to export a rigged mesh, I can only do this at the base mesh resolution (tried both DAE and FBX). Am I missing something, or is there no way to do this?

I find that SubD needs to be reapplied in the destination appliciation, exporting from both DS and from modo, so I think this is a general FBX thing and not a DS issue.
it will not add HD morphs, higher resolution is certainly possible I often do that but sadly D|S HD morphs are propitiatory.
So there's no way to bake a higher resolution mesh for export? It seems like they get baked when you export as OBJ, so it seems odd that you wouldn't be able to export a higher-poly rigged model.
yes HD bakes with obj
only thing you could do is try to rig it with the transfer Utility, I have done that but stuff gets welded on import so have issues with mouths and eyes
