I had a Commodore 64, because at uni, the engineering lab had a suite of PETs, and so I was already familiar with the architecture. My cousin had a ZX81 and later Spectrum, so I was all too familiar with the dreaded 'ram pack wobble'.

I think my Nephew has one of those as well. I still have some old pro audio stuff, but not any of my old Vox gear. Like Wendy, I still listen to all of those artists as well. A bit hooked on Sweet right now... but I still mix it up a lot!

What was the topic again? Oh yeah... age!
I never really knew about Sweet for the longest time - being in USA is one thing... but living in the sticks in Wisconsin made me even more secluded!
Both parents are musicians and we traveled a lot. So I did get some tastes of things.
Black Sabbath Paranoid was my first LP beyond stuff like Johnny Quest and Famous Monsters Speak. It was just before first grade. My Dad let me go to a Foghat concert for my 11th birthday. I loved it!
My brother and I both collected from different artists growing up and inspired each other to each other's favorites. We're still (while distant) best friends - and I still consider him to be the best bass player I've ever worked with - or even jammed with for that matter!
One day my brother gave me an album called Sweet - Give Us a Wink Oh man I loved that album. I've heard some of their hits that eventually made their way into the US (I wish they all had!) like Little Willy, Fox on the Run, Action (came much later), Ballroom Blitz... but nothing like the list of hits they've produced! Man... why not? These guys Rocked!!!
I can't go listing my favorite bands 'cause there's just too many - and you know me... I'll just not stop. But Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Jimi Hendrix, Kiss (I've always loved makeup and theatrics!) Aerosmith, Scorpions, and more have been big on inspiring me as I learned to play drums, guitar, bass and I'd always just sing any darned old thing that got stuck in my vocal chords. I don't play guitar and bass much anymore unless I'm coming up with a new melody for a new song. The bands I'm in now don't do anything original together. My Singer and I do - and I always have. I'll sing a new song to Rosie about Rosie on a whim - and she loves that!
Just recently seeing the Partridge Family bus earlier reminded me immediately of the version of "I Woke Up in Love This Morning" that I used to sing to Rosie when I'd call her from my job sites - spending long l o n g hours of stone work all summer long. I love that melody for singing an acapella love song to my Rose! ;)
I will be 63 in a few months.
My musical tastes are wide and varied and include:
Amon Duul II, Barclay James Harvest, Jeff Beck, Adrian Belew, The Bonzo Dog Band, Camel, Can, Gang Of Four, Go, Gong, Graham Central Station, Steve Hillage, David Gilmour, Groove Holmes, Kissing The Pink, Manfred Mann, Mike Oldfield, Passport, The Persuasions, Django Reinhardt, Triumvirat, Robin Trower, Ultravox, Midge Ure, Visage, Yaz, and so many, many more including the usual suspects such as The Beatles, Annie Lenox, Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, etc.
I think I am a youngster in this group, which is hard to believe. 52. But I am the youngest of 5, so I grew up on my older siblings' music and fashion. Can still remember the little discs to insert in a 45 to enable it to be used on a turntable.

I am also one of the younger ones at 50 and a half But I grew up listening to a lot of variety going from Johny Cash Dolly Parton and Kenney Rogers to groups i could appriciate more Such as the Clash, Prism .
