Mtnmen - despite the shadows, its a nice render. I'm still trying to work out how it's done. Slepalex posted a still some time ago.
Horo - it's an amazing render, simply awesome
Horo: I like your twisted ideas! Superb abstract.
I think this render is apt for this challenge. I started this Robby the Robot tutorial at the beginning of last year, just after the New Year holidays and although I got frustrated every now and then, I never give up. I worked on it for the last few weeks to try and complete it for this challenge. There are two versions so these will be my first and second entries.

adbc - thank you.
mermaid - thank you. Cool Robby the Robot renders. Difficult for me to decide which one I prefer.
Hansmar - thank you.
mermaid010: Great Robby the Robot renders. I like the first one most, probably because I like the colourscheme and reflections more than the orangy colour in the second one.
Horo and Hansmar - thanks for the comments, I couldn't decide which I liked better so I entered both.

Entry #2 - Resolution to Hold the Line
Svengar for Gianni 6 and various clothing and armour imported from DAZ Studio. I had quite a few problems with the materials (especially Svengar's eyes - I don't know what happened there, they should be grey-blue!) so I guess I need to learn a lot more about the DS->Bryce transfer.
The background is a simple terrain using one of the mats from Horo and David's Landscape Under Fantastic Skies. Lighting is one of Horo's Sunless HDRI skies.

Horo - nice abstract, I love those colours too
mermaid010 - aw, Robbie the Robot is so cute! I like the "floating in space" version, but I think the one on the planet is even better
ed3D - I like that snowy-looking terrain very much
mermaid 010 : I love both Robby the Robot renders.
ed3D : Great image.
MelanieL : Very nice render.
ed3D -- very nice image.
MelanieL - lovely render, I like the expression - to strike or not to strike. Thanks for your comments
Adbc - thanks.
ed3D - thank you
mermaid010 - thank you too.
ed3d - very nice render.
MelanieL - thank you. Great idea and render.
ed3D: Nice work. Makes you wonder about the story behind the stairs and the hole and the lady astronaut; well done!
MelanieL: Very fierce render. Strong pose and great portrait.
Thank you, Horo and Hansmar.

@mermaid010... thank you ... Now Robbie the Robot is so cool... both images... I really like the second one... but I think the first one makes me think more... dimensionally... very good job modeling...
@ed3d...the Cyna Tarsi incident is odd and makes me feel on edge... Great job.. Resolution of Wiami Deigner makes me curious of who and where... Version 2 for me adds logic in an unlogical situation..fun ...
@melanieL...Resolution to Hold the Line.. a great perspective..and his expression of resolve... mixed with understanding of his likely fate.. Great image
Okay, here is my final incarnation... complete with shadows...
In my first two attempts..I had difficulty navagating objects like the canvas, or easel, for example, from let's say, top view... When I magnafied as far as it would go, in order to grab and drag the object ...they were so small I was unable to discern which object was what...
In this incarnation I started the scene again with the terrain as I did before...BUT... instead of scaling the terrain to a massive size...as I did... Waay larger than the Bryce infinate plane... This time I moved the camera closer to get the same view and I was able to enlarge the view & navigate all the objects from any view... I have learned many things with this image...
Within You and Without You
... my final answer...
ed3D: Re: The Resolution of Wiaml Deigner. Interesting one again. Like the firy lady and the off-center view. Though in my view the empty part on the right could be somewhat smaller. The second version of the CYNA TARSI Incident works even better for me than version number 1. Reason being, that she is with her back to us and appears to contemplate jumping in the hole.
mtnmen: You got there, well done! This looks really nice.
I finally got some inspiration when seeing an old photo I made of a piece of crystal art. Title: Low resolution spheres. Some postwork in contrast and light, but not overwhelming, I think.

Entry #3 Resolution All Boxed Up
With the deadline fast approaching I thought I'd do a quick final entry.
ed3D - thanks for your comment. I like your latest entries, especially the Wiaml Deigner one - I have no idea what's going on in it, but I like that atmosphere of mystery.
mtnmen - thanks for your comments. Your final version of Within You and Without You looks great - I know what you mean about the problem of moving the right thing where you want it, that's one of the trickiest things I find in the Bryce interface (coming from a DAZ Studio background)
Hansmar - very pretty colours again. There's something a little hypnotic looking at those spheres (even though they are not moving)
Great entries - some interesting takes on the theme.
Here’s my challenge entry.

I think I late with this one, so it doesn’t matter if it is not included, another achievement for me, inspired by Slepalex’s Still Life with candle. After reading the comments by Slepalex and Horo on Bryce5.com, a few trials and errors this is my last entry. Although Mtnmen used the same effect, our ideas are different. Good luck everyone.
