maybe you (or i) can make xmassy images using this ... happy holidays :)

it's a bit rushed but it was tested on a 4K vertices dress and worked fine, UV map included

but another test with only Aiko's scalp material selected didn't really work

mcjSpikey lets you grow spikes on things as can best be understood by looking at the pictures below

https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts/mcjspikey

i named it "xmas edition" because, after xmas, i may issue a new version that lets you select surfaces by material and select individual bones. For now it can only be applied to whole figures and objects

also, i'll probably add things like "jitter" to help create "real" fur or grass ( maybe clumps )

History

Dec 25, corrected major issue which made the script useful only for whole objects/figures, removed useless BuildMap()
Dec 24, 2012 added version for DS4.5 (and most likely DS4 )
Aug 27, 2010 released for DS 1, 2, 3

What a cool idea. It seems like applying it as-is to a plane would make a nice sheet of grass.

as it was yesterday, mcjSpikey for DS45 would only work for whole figures and objects

today's updated version supports material selections

for instance to produce the "wig" shown below i selected Aiko3 ( with DS45 you must select the whole figure )

then using the surface-selection tool, i selected the "skinScalp" surface/material

and as you can see, spikes were created only for this surface

also in this new version i removed the creation of a map which was not used anyway so it's quite fast

the next version of mcjSpikey which will probably be called mcjShaggy will let you generate hair on skullcaps

in the image below, each hairdo is lass than 60000 triangles ( 20000 spikes )

    no ETA on this

    Just useful?

If it can work with dForce and there's the chance to have a "comb" function, it means true dynamic hair for DAZ Studio... And this sounds REALLY nice! laugh

    Downloading right now! Thanks man!

And just realized... GRASS! A meadow of lightweight polygonal grass!
    Thanks even more, Jacques! laugh

my oldest freebie script is January 2009

i posted here in the daz3d repository each time

then i dont know when, maybe 2012, the forums changed servers and a lot of the announcements were left behind

so a lot of oder scripts are not found in this forum

but Richard Haseltine has a compendium of many of my scripts

note that this week maybe today i will post the sucessor to mcjSpikey

the new one will do straight spikes but also curved ones like this
