Auto Hide Objects

When creating a scene with thousands of polygons in a environment for animation or complex scenery my computer slows down to a craw. how about a auto hide plug-in that hides objects that are not in the direct vision of the view port. I hide objects in the Scene Tab and this helps speed things up but, having to un-hide them and hide them again multiple times is a unwanted task. Not to mention forgetting to un-hide an object just to discover my mistake after a particular long render time. this would also help those of us who create entire completed scenes that could be used in gaming production or animation with multiple high count polygon objects. I would love to hear any feed back on this topic if anyone like a auto hide option or if there is a better was to solve my issue.

  • You might need them to unhide at render time (for shadows and/or reflections). Ofc ourse working out which items were out of sight would add an overhead to the application's operation, so you might cancel at least some of the potential gain.

I was thinking of a toggle for turning on/off the auto hide option before rendering but, I can imagine the overhead to the application operation might not be practical....if I understand what you mean, the programing of such a option might be something that could not be integraded very easy. However, it would be kinda cool and would help with those high poly counts. Thanks for the feedback.
