"Many formats" doesn't help. What formats have you tried? Also, what version of Carrara? 32 bit? 64 bit?

Well I finally used an EXPORTED version out of Quicktime pro as a WAVE file that works.

page 450 of the 2008 carrara manual states

"Currently carrara supports (import) sound files in uncompressed microsoft .wav and apple aiff format ."

This is still current info as far as i know.
    cheers
