Howie Farkes Product Installation?

I bought a product called WORLD GARDENS JAPAN to use in Carrara 7 Pro. I installed the files in the folders specified, but they don't show up in the Browser. I've tried updating the folders, but that doesn't have any effect. Can someone tell me how to get the files to appear?
Thanks!

if you are on a Mac, I think you have to open the Carrara hidden contents folder (I think you option+click on Carrara and select SHOW CONTENTS).
inside... somewhere is a folder where the plants leaves go.... You will need to also install them on your rendernodes.
Apologies if I am wrong.
I had to file folders to the appropriate browser tabs get it to show up in the browser. I browsed to the appropriate folder and added "World Gardens" one that goes to Scenes, Shaders, and Objects.
The folders you need to browse to to add the correct "World Gardens" folder for each of those tabs are located at::
for the Scenes Tab
Scenes\World Gardens
for the Objects Tab
Presets\Objects\ World Gardens
for the Shadres Tab:
Presets\Shaders\Word Gardens
All those folders will be in your Carrara program folder which is the location you wanted to install the product in.
The plants will show up if you go to inset a plant into a scene and chose to load a preset. you'll see World Gardens in the ones listed.
Hope that helps.
There are some instructions at Howie's site, under Product Resources that might do a better job of explaining than I could: http://www.howiefarkes.com/?page_id=301
This is the Applications Folder on my Mac hard drive. I opened the actual application and installed the files where I thought they should go - and they still don't show up in the Carrara browser when I open the program. I checked the HowieFarkes website, there weren't any instructions, and he doesn't have any kind of contact link or information.
In the old DAZ Forum archive there was a question about installing HowieFarkes products on Mac computers - he gave a link to a set of instructions, but the link is dead now. So, others with Macs have had the same problem with HowieFarkes products.
I don't know what to do. :-S
Go to the link I posted above your comment. His instructions are posted on his web site in zip.
World Gardens isn't there, but the concept is the same.

I went to the link and downloaded every folder and none of the files have instructions for anything in them.
Here is the old DAZ forum page that had the old Wiki link - which links to nothing now.
I don't know where you're going, but I downloaded the zip from the link I gave you, and got the instructions. I don't know what to tell you. I don't say things without checking first. I got a zip file from http://www.howiefarkes.com/?page_id=301—under Product Resources, Secret Lake, HTML Read Me. It gave me a zip file that I unzipped, that gave me a web page, "SecretLakeREADME.htm", that had instructions in it, including the Mac. The general idea's the same.
If you can't find what I've successfully done tonight, twice, I don't know how to help. There's a txt file installed when you install World Gardens, FileList_8813_1_ca_WorldGardensJapan_1.txt, that lists the directories where files should be for Windows. They're in the same place in Mac, except you have to go into the app package to find the Data, Presets, and Scenes folders into which these should go:

Please, go to the link I gave you on www.howiefarkes.com — not the old DAZ links, not the links in the ReadMe that you installed. Use the link I gave you in the downloads section of Howie's site.
The list above, that's where I put the files - in the app package. They don't show up in the Carrara browser. That's the problem.
The old post in the old DAZ forum says "these instructions are amazing", which leads me to believe that there are actual instructions for installing the products on Macs. A simple list of files wouldn't be referred to as amazing instructions. And if the instructions are amazing, that makes me think that the installation of these files is out of the ordinary.
No. You didn't put them in those folders. You put them all in ONE folder. If you'd go to Howie's site, downlaod the ZIP for Secret Lake, and read the instructions, as I've said, you'll get the concept. Inside the application package, there's to be a World Gardens folder in Data that gets the leaves, there's to be a World Gardens folder in Presets that gets the plants, and there's to be a World Gardens folder in Scenes that gets the scene. I've tried, but you're not following me anywhere along the process. I truly don't know how to help you. I'm sorry to have tried, since I only seem to be making you angry. Good luck.
I didn't put the files in one folder, I put them in the folders that you mention - I put them where that list of folders says they go. Thanks for your help.
If anyone else has any experience installing HowieFarkes files on a Mac, I'd sure like to hear from you.
I truly don't know what to tell you. I've got the package and it's working. Sorry.
Wait — you did say they don't show up in the browser. They won't. They're in the presets.
They won't be in the browser unless you add the folders to the browser (I've set up aliases in my C folder of the data, scene, and preset folders inside the package so I can get to them from the browser...).
The content shows up in the various menus — File/Open Presets, or when you Insert/Plant and choose from the Preset/Add button up at the top of the plant window. That's why I sent you to the Secret Lake zip; Howie's instructions tell you where to find the content, as well as where it goes:
Using the Scene and Content
Where to find your new Presets
Secret Lake Scene Preset
The Secret Lake scene is installed into the Scenes Presets folder of Carrara. To access the new scene select "Open Preset..." from the File menu to open the Scene Wizard.
Now you can choose Secret Lake from the Scene Wizard.
Finally, select the Secret Lake Scene and press the "OK" button to open the scene.
Tree Presets
There are five tree presets included in the Secret Lake package. They are:
Red Spruce (Picea rubens)
Sugar Maple Mature (Acer saccharum)
Sugar Maple Sapling (Acer saccharum)
Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum)
Tamarack Larch (Larix laracina)
The Tree presets are installed into the Plants Presets folder of Carrara. To access the new trees select "Plant" from the Insert menu.
Next, choose "Preset: Load" to launch the Plant Scene Wizard.
Now you can choose Secret Lake from the Plant Scene Wizard. Here you will find the four preset trees from the Secret Lake package. Select a tree then press the "OK" button to load the preset.
Finally, choose "OK" when prompted to import the tree's shader.
Your fully editable tree should be loaded now.
Leaf Presets
There are three leaf presets included in the Secret Lake package. They are:
Larch Needles
Sugar Maple Leaf
Spruce Needles
The Leaf presets are installed into the Data folder of Carrara. To access the new leaves select "Plant" from the Insert menu.
Select the "Leaf" tab
Next, click the "Choose a leaf" button to launch the Plant Scene Wizard.
Now you can choose Secret Lake from the Leaf Scene Wizard. Here you will find the three preset leaves from the Secret Lake package. Select a leaf then press the "OK" button to load the preset.
Finally, choose "OK" when prompted to import the leaf's shader.
Your tree should be adorned with the new leaf now.
Realistic Sky Preset
There are two Realistic Sky presets included in the Secret Lake package. They are titled:
Late Afternoon
Mid-Morning
The Realistic Sky presets are installed into the Presets folder of Carrara. To access a new Realistic Sky select choose "Realistic Sky" for the Atmosphere in the Scene's Effects Tab.
Click on the "Preset" icon to launch the Atmosphere Scene Wizard.
Now you can choose Secret Lake from the Atmosphere Scene Wizard. Here you will find the "Mid-Morning" and "Late Afternoon" presets from the Secret Lake package. Select a preset then press the "OK" button to load the preset.
Your scene should have the new Realistic Sky applied to it now.
CarltonMartin is correct: if the product is installed properly the scenes will not show up in the browser but will be available in the "Scene Wizard". This is accessed from the File menu -> Open Preset...
Thank you CarltonMartin and HowieFarkes! That's what I needed to know. It works perfectly now.:-)
