Embarrasingly Basic Render Room Question

Returning to Carrara after a long hiatus. In the render room, I used to see icons for the panning Hand Tool and a zooming Magnifying Glass icon. Now, I'm stuck with just the Hand tool, and no icons visible, above. How do I get them back, or otherwise access the ability to zoom in/out of a render?

    I either have both visible, or none.

    Right clicking the top grey bar, and left clicking "2d tools" brings them back for me.

    Apparently, this only works when there's a render wi dow open. (At least, that's the only way I could get it to work.) I thought it used to just stay there.

    But in any case, thank you again. I knew there had to be a basic solution!
