Aiko 4 XprssnMagic on Genesis with A4 Shape.

What I want to do is transfer V4.2++ morphs to Genesis figure in order to be able to use A4XprssnMagic in order to use Aiko 4 Expressions on Genesis 1 figure with A4 Shape.

Is something like that possible? The product description of Genesis Generation X2 leads me to believe that it is possible however I have my doubts.

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but could you use the XprssnMagic for Genesis on a Genesis base with the aiko4 legacy shape applied first and get the same effects? This would probably be logistically easier if the expressions came out close enough. I have a couple of the XprssnMagic utilites and they all seem to have the same set of expressions in their list, so I don't hink you'd be missing much in terms of available expressions.

FWIW, I used the GenX2 tool to create a full set of V4.2 morphs (++, CreatureCreator, Ethnic, ...) for Genesis so I could carry over the more exotic V4 morphs in my collection to Genesis1, and that works, but because I have the similar  'evolution' morphs available and native to genesis, I don't find that I use the V4 morphs on genesis for anything but conversion so far. In fact, they sort of gum up my morph dial lists (zillions of dials now).

With GenX2 the converted morphs are named differently (they have a Genx2 prefix) and I don't think the morph names that you'd paste into your genesis from XprssnMagic-aiko4 would be found in the genesis character's morph list. You might be able to use one of D3D's editors (DSON editor, or Morph controller editor?) to bulk change the converted morph names to the original names. Not sure if there would be conflicts with the native genesis morphs, but you could explore that option.

Lastly, you could use the tools you have now (XprssnMagic and v4.2/aiko4, and ++ morphs) to create and save the particular morphs you want and just use any conversion technique/tool to convert V4 morphs to Genesis.

Given the time and additional utils required to migrate the whole set, I would personally wait for a sale ('tis the season) and just buy the XprssnMagic for genesis, and the iconic aiko4 shape for genesis and save tons of time fighting conversion and related oddities - getting to your goals faster, rather than fighting the tools!

    Hope this helps,

I tried using M5/V5 Xprssn Magic while having A4 Shape applied to genesis and the result were less than satisfactory.

Also Im hell bent on A4 Xprssn Magic as they are the only one who really have the anime feel going for them compared to other.

From what I noticed, Xprssn Magic works in a way that it searches the region for name specific morph and sets its value accordingly.

In order to make A4Xprssn Magic work I must make sure that when I transfer morphs from A4 to Genesis I put them in the same body region and name them the same way.

GenX2 does allow that through "selected morphs(with properties)".

It will be tedious to remove GenX prefixes but it should work in theory.

It did work although I did run into some issues.

Firstly, some morphs not working correctly. I assume it happened because when I was deleting V4_ and _Head suffixes/preffixes I may have deleted part of morph names as well. Will have to redo them all over again.

Secondly I have to keep property cloner them to head each time I restart the program which is kind of a PitA.

    Finally managed to achieve it.

    1) Use Genesis Generations X2 to transfer A4 Morphs to Genesis

    2) In parameters menu select the root nod and go to GenerationX/Victoria4

    3) Select all morphs and either use Property Mover or Property Cloner and move then to the head node

    4) Go to each morph and click on small cog (parameter settings) and remove each V4_ preffix and _head suffix in order to make A4Xprssn Magic be able to read them. (170 morphs to go through... ouch!)

    5) Also change morph paths to just Morphs / Shapes and Morphs Expressions so the parameter settings on Genesis head node will look just like on Aiko 4.

    6) Once finished with it once again Save as > Support Asset > Morph Asset

Took me a whole day to figure this out but it was damn well worth it.

A4Xprssions are simply much explosive and filled with character compared to others.

Thanks for getting back to fill in the gap!

I didn't realize the aiko4 XprssnMagic had such different expressions! I've got the genesis and m4/v4 versions. A4 version added to my wish-list! A3 version has some slight variations too- hmm. FWIW, you might also like migrating morphia/morphus from capses digital ink (@DAZ) for some really good exagerated character/toonish morphs that are hidden gems if you do stylized character work along the lines of A4.

I'm saving your recipe for my migration as well. It's a nice list of steps. I think with D3D's DSON editor, you can do the 170 edits in bulk... or... If you unzip the dsf morph set files, you can probably use a notepad++ (I use unix 'sed' or 'perl') tools to do massive edits like that. I *don't* think D3D's morph categorizer tool does this, which is mostly why I bought it, but it does do some other handy things.

Again, thanks for coming back to let us all know how it went. future generations will thank you!

    cheers,

yay - I got it on yesterday's sale! (aiko4 version). Again, if you like those, you should really check out capsces digital ink's fareme (A4 version) or morphia/morphus packages! Although it simply looks like a set of presets that use dials, it's a full set of really versatile morphs that can be used for any character, and the presets are simply a set of examples (really good starting points for your own characters, etc.
