Tyrannosaurus Rex (Commercial)

Tyrannosaurus Rex includes 10 poses, is fully rigged and ready to go (including poseable tongue and eyes), and is highly detailed. The model was designed to be very realistic by reflecting the latest scientific research done on Tyrannosaurus. The Tyrant-Lizard King comes with three skin variants, a normal map, and displacement map (all at 8192x8192).

Really stunning work you've done here. :)  Just a beautiful beast.  Looks like a must-have to me.

WOW, amazing work! Love the skin folds! Hope this means we have more new dinos to look forward to!

With 8192x8192 textures, looks like I won't be having more than one in a scene, LOL

Also interested in the background scenes you have him in.

RAWR!!!! Epic work. He looks awesome!

  • I'm glad to hear your responses and I'm currently working on a Dakotaraptor for my next release.

Not sure if I'd get it, but it does look damned epic - great work!

Nice! And welcome to DAZ! If you are focused on the Cretaceous period for now, maybe a Siamotyrannus or a Xenoceratops after that

Day'am, those are great renders! He and the 'raptor will find their way into my library for sure. Smaller tex maps might be a good option.

I've got two already but this one looks so awesome I'm going to need another!

    @OP

By all means provide smaller maps as an option, but please keep in the larger ones.

Oh my gosh he/she looks fabulous!!

In the cart at launch, looks sensational!

Thank you for creating an item that has been asked for a lot in the forums!

    Quick questions for you though:

1: is the Rex scalable down to an infant?

2: are the teeth coming with shaders for blood/decay? Or an option coming for it at a slightly later date?

3: torn flesh prop for the mouth as the Rex is feeding?

    Thanks for reading!

Looks great! I've been looking for a good T-rex for a while now and have come close to buying but never found one that I really liked, but yours looks fantastic. Definitely an instant buy for me on release! Just wondering if there will be any morphs to change teeth size or anything like that.

Absolutely agree.Great looking dino. Now that we have ultra scatter, rendering more than one should not be a problem.smiley

+ some alternate skins like wet, blood stained or with deep scars so it won't look so pristine...

Curious: What inspired those ridges on the upper front of the leg? I don't recall ever seeing a Rex portrayed with those.

Excellent work on the model and texturing. Are those stringing bridges of saliva included as props or was that Photoshopped on?

FSMCDesigns: Thanks for the welcome and I'll be jumping around with dinosaurs but first focusing on animals that lived in both T. rex and Spinosaurus biomes/domains.

fastbike1: A smaller texture option will be pursued with further products, thanks for asking.

Linton: All great questions. This is my first product and was a hill to climb by itself but I do plan on expanding upon it if Daz allows product updates. I don't plan on making dinosaurs scalable by age but I do plan on adding completely seperate models for different ages (hatchling, juvenile, adolescent). These models will be added to the existing product of the adult (again, as long as Daz will allow it). I won't be adding different growth stages though until I have at least 5 adult models released. I also plan on adding additional skins to existing products after release like a bloodied up T.rex who just barely escaped death from another Rex. I have also thought about a gore package for later down the road that will add various carcasses and meat giblets that could be used for cases like that.

DvoraszeniaStudios: There won't be any morphs available for it at this time but it will be something I will consider in the future once I learn how to correctly add them in. I'm still new to creating models to be used in Daz so I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem for me to do in the near future.

Xenomorphine: I actually seen them done before by 2D artists which inspired those. The saliva was added in photoshop; here's a great tutorial (http://danluvisiart.deviantart.com/art/VENOM-TUTORIAL-200861392) for adding saliva to your renders inside photoshop. In the near future I will look into adding these to the actual model itself.

Edit: Here's a list of the items I plan on doing within the next year. I know there's a lot more animals that belong to these biomes but these would be my initial focus.

T.rex biome: Dakotaraptor, Alamosaurus, Quetzalcoatlus, Triceratops, Edmontosaurus, Struthiomimus
Spinosaurus biome: Spinosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus, Sarcosuchus, Ouranosaurus, Paralititan
Other ideas: Growth stages to existing products, Gore package, Nest and Eggs package.

I'm also heavily considering a Dino-Riders-inspired-theme of sci-fi weapons and mounts (like in my avatar) as standalone packages for existing models or fantasy/abstract versions of the dinosaurs. My only concern is it would be a lot of work and don't know how much of the consumer base would want/buy these.

Outside of dinosaurs/prehistoric animals I also plan on releasing a few creatures here and there.

Looks great, will be looking for it in the store.

BTW, that first rendering, is that a hint that a Pterosaur will be among the early releases (hopefully)?

Wow, this looks fantastic and I'm really excited for your roadmap of dino and related products!

  • FSMCDesignsFSMCDesigns Posts: 12,755

Oh man, I love the idea of the gore pack with various carcasses. the Edmontosaurus or the Ouranosaurus especially would make for good carcasses and both these also have quite the array of color schemes. Great idea on the Quetzalcoatlus also, would love that model

I like the rider idea, kinda like ARK in a way.

Please, please, add some poses to the packages as well.

  • IceDragonArtIceDragonArt Posts: 12,548

I keep coming back to drool.... I love love the feather/hair ridge on his head and neck, it really look fabulous.  I honestly couldn't care less about the gore etc since i would happily add that as post work with photoshop (ron's ripped fabric brushes are really good for slashes if anyone is interested lol).  I am seriously excited about the whole dinosaur thing and would totally buy the sci fi dino riders themes stuff.

Bam, in the cart so hard the wheels fell off. Just purchased it, can't wait to get home from work to try it out!

Looking forward to any and all expansions for this product!

Does this dino come with Iray materials? I don't see any mention of this.

Just had to buy this as soon as I saw it. Best rex yet!

The Dakotaraptor sounds intersting. Glad to see you have others planned,  a Triceratops could be good for the classic battle. Well If you keep making dinos of this quality  I'll keep buying them laugh

It's killing me that I can't buy this now. Argh.

Well, in the wishlist for when money returns.

Looks fantastic.  Will the rigging work in Carrara?  Genesis 2 loads and works in Carrara but Genesis 3 does not.  Has the dino been tested in Carrara?

He looks awesome! Thank you for creating a T. Rex that doesn't have the shrinkwrapped look that so many dinosaur illustrators seem to prefer nowadays. Your guy looks well-fed, muscular, mean, and ready to cause some serious damage. I also like the sparse pseudo-feathers near the crown.

Great T-rex!!! Quick render to show my support and say thanks!! looking forward to the other ones you have planned. BTW Found your Shutterstock page, man some amazing images there. Are those images of what's to come or someone elses work, because the other dinos look amazing also!

Comes with hires diffuse, displacement and normalmap with a few other settings to enhance these and works great in IRAY with a few adjustments.

Wow, that looks great! What sorts of "a few adjustments" did you need to make to get it to look good in IRay? I was under the impression that new products for Daz were all supposed to include IRay shaders by default.

  • fastbike1, nDelphi: The T. rex probably does not come with Iray materials. I am new to making products for Daz and new to hearing that term but will look into adding these.

diomede: I have not tested the model outside of Daz so I cannot answer yes or no.
