Hey all! So I just discovered the fibermesh hair that Neftis3D makes and I was wondering if anyone knew of any other places that sell fibermesh hair compatible with DAZ Studio??? (It looks great in my realistic renders!)
Any info would be great! Thanks!

Mec4D has also used Fibremesh to make hair - it isn't a thing in DS, but a tool in ZBrush for making hair which can be exported as OBJ and used in other applications (unlike many strand-based hair systems).

I wish you could do that in daz! :) I've been playing with Galbaldi hair plugin beta... Some issues with it due to crashing, also multiple UV on a character is a no no unfortunately. You cant view it in the view port, and raytrace shadows are a no no :(

It is for DS, then we can all do it.

This is the free beta version of the hair included with my superhero product "goldenage". My goal with it was to keep the poly count down, so it's not going to look anywhere near as good as something done with a less conservative eye. But it's something to play around with. Subd will smooth it out some. I'd imagine that if there are shaders with the commercial Fibermesh hair you've bought, they'll work just as good on this.

Well I'll give you an idea of the good points and the bad points.
    For me anyway

    Good
    very quick to create
Fiber UV are excellent for transparency maps and gradient maps
Morph are so easy to make you can have a huge range of styles.
Rigging wise if you're just doing short hair there's no work in it, the transform template works excellent.

    Bad
Close up with fiber mesh that has no transparency maps renders are terrible and blocky OK from a distance!
Mesh with transparency maps will render between 1h to 4h rendering at best quality but quick with default lights
Animal fur extremely hard to rig due to the weight mapping and you need a space between the leg or they pull on each other.
Daz file can be huge even when compressed
Very hard to get the poly count down and maintain coverage.

If you want to lean it Digital Tutors have some good tuts

I think only me and Mech4D are use it in production but more and more people are using it.

Neftis3D has three fiber hair products in her store here, and Joequick has at least one at Rendo.

The thing is that short hairstyles are likely so few because standard trans maps often make a mess out of the realism of short hair. The ones that pass in the OK factor, require heavy re-texturing and tweaking... and in close ups, even still, there are complications, I've found that even the shortest trans-mapped short hair renders as slow as highly detailed long hair despite having lesser satisfactory close-up outcome.

VERY affordable mesh hair by Adam Thwaites:
    http://www.most-digital-creations.com/poser_daz_studio_hair.htm
(Tala, Wild, Funky, Tough, Short, Beard, Wet, Sensual, and Body hair are ALL mesh hairs, the rest aren't far as I know). They are fabulous!! I have several. :)
If you haven't already, check out Adam's HUGE freebie list for tons of free props, sets, hair addons, textures, poses, and wonders. :D So much love for Adam Thwaites!

    Secondly,
Alfaseed at RDNA sells some lovely mesh hairs with so many morphs that are WELL worth the price.

    and addon: http://www.runtimedna.com/FantasyDropsPlus.html

Neftis here at Daz makes fantastic fibermesh hair as well: BONUS: they are all currently 50% OFF!!!!

and i THINK Goya hairstyle might be fibermesh? But it doesn't say if it is, so maybe someone knows? http://www.daz3d.com/shop/goya-hairstyle

There's a lot more options than you'd think! I know there's more out there. Joe Quick has a couple freebies at ShareCg of fibermesh stuff, but far as I recall none came with any readmes so likely consider them purely noncommercial use, especially beta (and the super hero hair definitely is a beta unless you bought it). He recently made fiber eyebrows freebie f I remember correctly.

I'm sure there must be others...

And just wait till LAMH comes out, you'll LOVE it. :D :D :D

Never mind, got it figured out how to get fibermesh hair to conform and resize with Genesis. When doing my tutorial to make the hair a conformer to Genesis there are extra bones. I often remove some of them to clean it up but for some reason with fibermesh if these bones are left in place the hair follows just fine.... See the screen shot below

    Here is the tutorial:

Huh???? I am afraid I don't understand your statement here! I think Mec4D and I simply used the transfer tool in Daz Studio... At least That is what I do to create my fit morphs. I don't seems to have any trouble to pass the rigorous Daz 3d testing team, and they make sure to always check that the fit morphs are all OK.
The transfer tool is really great and I rarely have to correct more than minor fit problems.
By the way sorry for my bad English as I am French from ground.

    Neffy :)

Nef, just wondering why there seems to be no way to make fibermesh conform to Genesis that can resize as the figure is resized. I tried this with your hair product you included in Hiro 5 bundle after doing my little tutorial to make it a proper conformer and while the body resizes the hair moves a little bit but not much. This is very off putting to those of us that really like hair and clothing that follows the figures shape and size. Mec4D (Cath) has this figured out somehow ... might be worth tapping her on the shoulder I think. You do spectacular work but I'm afraid until this is resolved I'll have to stick with the older hair type models for Genesis. Sorry hon!

I hope I didn't offend you honey. I just wanted to know if I buy fibermesh hair that if I conform it to Genesis it will follow along with the figure as I reshape it and resize it. That's all. If not then my tutorial DOES work to accomplish this need.
