And once we've got some fishing gear, how about some fish to catch with it?

I've found sharks, tropical fish and prehistoric fish (and whales which I know whales), but how about regular salmon, trout or mackerel?

I've always thought it weird that we can find an aquarium at DAZ but no fish to put in it. No guppies, Neons, Bettas or swordtails.

I trhink fishing equipement is a great idea, so a couple of questions to check I'm on track.
What type: Open Reel, Closed Reel, "Ambassadeur style" Fly Reel?

The reason I ask is that it's not only the reel but the rod that is very different depending och the type of reel you want to attach to it.
And what fish are you going for? What kind of tackels do you want to go with it? Wobblers, Spoons, spinners, flies? Hook bait and sink?

Tackleboxes? Is it deep see swordfish fishing? In lake Pike and Bass fishing or small stream fly fishing for trout?

If I decide to make a set for Pikes and Basses, Open Reel, two Rods (7" and 9"), tackles (Wobblers, spinners and spoons), Tacklebox(es), and probably some assorted equipment like a knife, a line reel, would it be the right way to go?

Just to make sure we are all talking about the same thing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fishing_reel since we come from all over the world and may call reels by different names.

Personally I like spinning rods and reels, but bait casting and spin casting reels use the same type of rod so that may be your best choice. If you are willing to do both types of reels(bait and spin casting), that would be great. At least with spin casting reels most of the moving parts are hidden. The two rod lengths are a good idea, working for both smaller and larger fish. For tackle, I would suggest bobbers, weights, bare hooks, baited hooks, and lures(we probably know them by different names). Tackle boxes and the assorted equipment sounds good too.

With that variety, we could create scenes ranging from a lazy day fishing from the bank of a lake with a bobber, to more active casting, to trolling in larger lakes and rivers. They would also work for perch, trout, bass, salmon, catfish, and I assume pike or sturgeon.

    Very nice.

That's the spinning reel which I actually prefer. Hopefully it's also what the OP wanted, lol. I bought the trout and bass at Poser World - they have a discount coupon which expires today, so they were very cheap.

We need more fish too.  It is great to get lots of fishing gear but there is not much to catch.

I do not know how it is with free obj. at turbosquid but if you buy something, they convert the items in formats you ask for and they do other things also, like seperate an obj. in single probs or convert textures (all if possible for them) and that is a free service. Have bought an old circular saw with table and the converted to my needs.

I'd like some more realistic fish models. The ones I use in the store even with Iray shaders tend to look like those plastic fish at the supermarket.
