I finally started using this, and it seems to work good for darker skins, but for any caucasian or asian skins everything looks too red. And then after doing comparisons to the competing Iray Skin Converters, there is just no comparion, the ICS does a much better job. Really dissapointed, because it does wonders for the few darker skins I've tried it on. Is there any fix for this? I'm using DS 4.8 by the way, maybe thats why? But then, why do the ICS products not turn the skin red?
Almost certainly being stuck at the lower and deprecated version of Daz Studio will give you the red color; there was an error in IRAY (not Daz Studio) that created the wrong tones that was fixed in later versions. Some products (Fred Winkler's) for example come with two shaders (one for the incorrect version that came with the default Iray Ubershader that came with 4.8 and one for the repaired version that came with 4.9).
Actually spending some time looking through previous pages of this thread, it seems it has nothing to do with DS version. This is what the product does with light skin, it makes it pink/red and blotchy, I see a lot of people with the same problem, and yet everyone coming to the defense saying "its just personal preference" etc. LOL. This is a broken product in my opinion if it only works on dark skin.
Not quite a matter of preference, but of the way the diffuse maps were set. Seeing the multitude of material set-ups in daz figures, having a reddish diffuse map that is offset by translucency, specularity etc is nothing that outrageous. Obviously, Anagenessis can't check whether that is the case, it just takes what is there. In my experience, it isn't that hard to correct with a bluish tinge in the base color, as someone else pointed out in the thread.
Any ETA on when we can expect Anagenesis 3?
So - I'm sure this has been answered before...
But I am trying to use Anagenesis on a G3F character using Cayman Studio's legacy geograft UVs with a V4 skinmap.
It doesn't find the shoulders, bands near the top of the thighs, and the underside of the neck and the back of the head - basically, the geografts.
This is the ideal place to use Anagenesis...
I do find that any geografts, including some of the Wet Skin geografts, seems to give Anagenesis a hard time.
Is there a solution to this?
i don't have my studio machine around at the moment, but i think i've run into this before with a v4 skin adapted via the cayman package, and i *think* this is what i did. if you've already tried this and it hasn't worked, sorry...
without invoking anagenessis, save the result of applying the cayman geograft as a new material preset for g3. then start a new scene with a base g3f character, and apply the material preset. then fire up anagenessis and apply.
hope that works for you. if it doesn't, i'll go back and look at those files again.

I'll give this a try right now.
Yeah... I was afraid that sounded too easy. When you save the .duf, it doesn't save the materials on the shoulders, thights, and bottom of chin/back of head. So when you apply the duf on the G3F base character, those areas are blank.
I've had great success using this on lighter skinned characters and use it in almost all of my scenes. I've never had to change anything to make it look right, so its apparently not broken for me...In fact, my avatar uses Anagennesis and she clearly does not have a ruddy tone to her skin.
I sometimes have the ruddy skin problem, so I only use it when I have time to mess around fixing it. Of course, different people have different ideas of 'ruddy'. And the other problem I have is dead-white skin... I either have to make some of the overlay colors more blue or more orange! It's just a judgement thing, I think, combined with what the vendors do to tweak the non-NGS skin into looking good.
Yes, I believe someone asked this same question earlier in the thread (or in some other thread). If I recall, the answer was to apply anagenessis (without the 2 or 3 after it) to the v4 skin (on a v4 character). This should work as Anagenesis (without the 2 or 3) works on genesis and v4.
Then save the updated skin as a material preset for V4.
Then prep your G3F, load your saved V4 material, and apply v4 uv's as you would do in any cayman process.
I'm pretty sure I've done this myself in the past and it worked out.
This makes more sense. I'll give it a shot.
When is Anagenesis 3 coming out??
Yep, it works well. As Toonces said, you'll need to save the mats as a Material Preset. Load the V4 skin onto Genesis 1, use Anagenessis on it, then save it as a material preset. Then load G3F, use the Cayman Studios product to "prepare G3F", then add the material preset.
Here I've used Scotlyn for V4's mats with Anagenessis on Genesis 3 female (with CaymanStudios UV product):
There's going to be an Anagenesis 3? I thought the current version was working well... what new features will there be?
I'm not sure what features there will be, but he's been posting some teaser images of it in his DA gallery: https://as-dimension-z.deviantart.com/gallery/ :)
Oh, this looks interesting! Thanks for the link, Divamakeup!
So happy for this
The Anticipation is killing me lol :D
It Looks so Good and I think I see Veins under the skin, or am I seeing things :P
Looking forward to it.
That's interesting, and I have noticed recently that when I use a dark skinned character, even using the setting for darker skins, it seems to lighten signifcantly. I've used this mostly on G2 and earlier generations which is where it seems to make the most difference. G3 and up have better skins to begin with I think. Mostly, lol.
This is Freya for Olympia 6 with Anagennesis applied - Brightness - high, glossy for make up fix - and high pores. No other adjustments. I really do notice the difference a lot more on the earlier generations.
To me, the middle of her nose looks very reddish. Below her eyes also a bit red, but her cheekbones are paler. Maybe the latter is makeup though.
Just goes to show that everyone's perspective is different lol. I've gotten a lot of comments saying how real she looks and how good her skin looks. So some of it I guess is a matter of experience and taste. And not every product is going to be right for everyone. I have other products to convert older generations to Iray skins and those work well for many situations as well.
So, I've been following this thread and I've taken screenshots on all the advices that might help me adjust the settings to do various things with this product. So here's all the solutions that I've screen grabbed that have been mentioned here in regards to "adjusting too light skin" (is what I've called them):
Adjusting skin that's "too red":
That's all I have! Though I may have missed some other advise. Tbh, altering glossy color is the only one I've tried using, since that's the one that has worked for me.
I have only tried tinting the base color in a green-blue hue for the reddish skins and the results have been wonderful. Thanks for compiling all the tips in a single post, this will be really useful--at least till we finally get the third version of Anagenessis.
You are welcome! I want to make a PDF with all the tips (and example renders) because I think it would be very useful, but I've just hadn't had the time :(. I've also haven't experimented enough with tweaking NGS when applied to the skin. I've mostly experimented with using the manual apply on environments to convert them from 3delight to Iray. Posted some of my experimentations here.
I wonder also, how many are looking at with monitors that have settings that are slightly off?
