wow only 150 posts, this is harder than it looks to up the posts. Can't find where my last amount went but it seems like it didn't take so long to get there.

I've never been a big fan of "beefcake" pin-ups, painted, photos or renders. It's just not my thing, y'understand. But, with this being the Monthly Challenge Forums and the point is to stretch your creativity to new boundaries, I though I'd give it a try. I'll let others who frequent the Challenge judge if I was successful or not. It's just some guy in a cowboy hat so far as I'm concerned...

You are going to tell me this is render??? I mean .. really?? I was convinced it is a picture.. you need to give me some links to the Cycles for summies, or something because I want to do that to....

There might be a small problem here, what make Cycles attractive is a script by mCasuale and the script is for DS. I don't know if there is anything similar for Poser.
The great thing with the script is that it translate simple DS materials to Cycles shaders. In theory you can build your scene in DS, run the script, that will launch blender in camera view and with Cycles active and all you have to do is hit the render button.
In reality it is usually not quite that simple, you will probably want to tweak a few thing and that brings us to another problem.
You will have to be able to do a few basic things in blender. Blender is not the kind of program that you install, take for a spin and say "That was fun". You install, launch and after tree minutes you will know the true meaning of confusion, after five, frustration and after ten despair (possibly a slight exaggeration, or not). If you want to use blender you must take the time to learn it, it will not be altogether pleasant, but nowhere near the hellish experience it used to be a few years back and IMHO well worth the effort.
There is an hilarious amount of tutorials for blender, many are good. If you are interested, and you should be :cheese: , start by watching a few BEFORE you run the program.

Without a script you can still export your scenes to blender but you will have to build the shaders more or less by hand. In that case i would not go for Cycles. blender can also be used as a front end to LuxRenders (the free engine Reality use). Cycles is still in development, LuxRenders have been around a long time and have more functions and less bugs than Cycles.

    Links:
    mCasuals script for DS 1-4
    blender
Some beginner tutorials, there are may more.

    Cheers! Oom

Well you could (if you are a PC member) join the the greenbox collection thread http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/342/

It all started off with someone wanting to know what the New Member" bit was all about, and it just sort of grew. I think it is now one of the longest threads so far.

BTW to be fair, I only got a few of my posts in there, most are genuinely trying to help people or defuse arguments, things like that.

I can relate to that, I dropped out for a while once due to finances, and I was one of the founder members, from before there was even a forum.

But all is not lost, if you eant a fun thread to drop into to boost your post count and have a bit of a lugh, there is always the "Stupid THread", whic because of this stupid forum is stupidly on the next to last page of the Commons http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/133/

Once you put something in your cart, then you can add a coupon. Remeber these are coupons, not vouchers, so can only be claimed at point of sale. Once you have selested what you want to buy (remember it is only valid for Daz Originals) then wehn you go to the checkout you get an option to add a coupon, add the coupon before you choose a payment method,

It's not a Gift Certificate, it's a Coupon. As such, you must put the code in when you get to the appropriate step in the checkout process. You can't claim it, as you could a voucher or GC in your account.

The way the site is behaving, I wouldn't even try it for a few hours I think. It keeps timing out on me even for just doing a reply post! :shut:

Music actually can't answer this question, and I can, but only by saying that Daz is still working out how it is going to deal with contests, ie what is going to be substitued for the vouchers that used to be given. It is not just for us, but for all Daz Sposored contests, which is why there are actually no Daz sponsored contests except this one and the New Users one going on at the moment, and they weren't too happy because we started doing New Users contests again, but allowed us to continue when we told them if we didn't we were going to lose quite a few New Users who wanted the educational contests we have been running.

We are hoping that this will be sorted out by next month, as I know the PAs want to resume the wallpaper contest.

Actually, he's Da Real Man's great-great-grandfather. He passed the shorts down a couple of generations....Besides, it's hard enough as it is to find free clothing for M4.

Suburb render on your part, by the way. You blew me out of the water on that one!
