Transferring .daz files Daz 3 to Daz 4.9

I think this question must have been answered years ago but can't find the answer.

I have daz scene files created with daz studio 3 which will no longer open with daz 4.9 and indeed crash the program.

Is there a way of restoring them e.g by text editing or opening them under daz 4.0 and resaving them. (Just a guess).

Some of the files include large military formations which would takes hours to do from scratch.

Not by text editing, as .daz is a binary format. Resaving them in older version of DS4 is worth a try, but there's no guarantee it will work for every scene.

I don't know which earlier versions of DS4 you have in stock but I would try to find the most recent that will open the scene and save a copy with that, there are better chances it will work with 4.9 if it has been saved with a recent version as there were quite a bit of changes in .daz format before 4.5.
