Updating the saves folders?

Not so much time ago I ipdated to 4.23. And now the program always offeres to save the rendered images in a folder which I used sometiems ago (not sure before or after the update), no matter I enter the new saved renders folder.

Enlight me please - how to permanantly change the folder where to save the renders?

You can change the folder in: Render Settings > Image Path

I found it - but the new path is not saved - when I open the program at new, it's the old path again.

You have set a default scene or something on New ?

  • If you are using something like the clean on launch option, or copying the UII from another isntancews or channel, then it will use the default paths for the first save of any type in each session.

Press F2 in DS > Scene tab, check if any default scene is set under On "New" ...

For multi-instances, use official lauch multi-instances script (I could not find the thread...) I always use 3 ~ 4 instances by using the script, even with clean on launch, it won't change my image path...

Edit: the script is in here : https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/5112696/#Comment_5112696

  • What to load there instead of "none"?

You may try: Save a Render Settings Preset with the corrected Image Path, then place the preset file into that field of "Load File".

I presume everytime I start to work with another folder, this will have to be changed, right? Where now is this file wich mus be changed and which I load every time?

BTW - I was using 4.21 before and it always was loading the last used path (whichever it was); can this be done with 4.23?

I didn't have such issue in 4.21/4.22/4.23. And I don't have to place a Preset into On New either....That is just one of the ways.

Actually the Image Path is stored in Windows Registry. You can directly go to your Windows Registry (by using regedit.exe ...), check if the path is correctly set in ImageSaveDir. Each time, DS should write the path in there ~~

Weird - I don't have such "ImageSaveDir" (neither the "ImageOpenDir" which is shown on your image too) - I use win 10 and it's recently updated.

Edit: I searched the registry for the saved path and found a single instance:

    Computer\HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-444360961-2186389668-1215303884-1002\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TypedPaths

I would assume it isn't there until it is created, by performing a save.

Sorry, I had to test it and make a correction:

    1) Each time you change Image Path to a target folder, DS instanly write the path to this registry > (screenshot 1) This path will be read and loaded each time when you launch DS, create a New scene or save a render.

    2) After you render, save the image and close DS, it writes the value to registry in the above screenshot I posted.

You can check and try it yourself.
