When saving a scene or scene subset.

What are the advantages of saving with Tonemapper and environment options ticked?

Or unticked?

If you don't care about your environment settings you can leave it unticked.

If you have some settings, you would like saved, e.g. HDRI, sun settings or something else in the environment tab you want to have available when opening the scene you should tick it.

I most often tick it, unless it is something I want to use in another context, and then I would usually save as a scene subset.

For Tonemapper the same. It annoyes me that Daz has changed the default values of Burn Highlight and Crush Blacks, so if I plan to use it I will save it.

If you want to scene exactly as you set it up, tick all the things. lol But as felis said, if it's a scene that you want to bring into other scenes without effecting the original scene's environmental settings, leave it unticked.

I turn down burn highlights all of the time

  • Thanks All. That is very helpful, I think I have a better understanding.
