Hi this might be a very noob question but i just need a refresher...

I forgot how to recolor a material, I'm putting elven hair on a character, its brown but I want to change it to white. how do i change the color of the file?

I did it in photoshop once before but i cannot remember the steps, I know some adjusts can be made in the surfaces tab but for what i want its not working..

any advice wiill be appreciated.

    Hi,
I just came across an article in the latest issue of DS Creative. ( http://issuu.com/philatdsc/docs/ds_creative_04 )
It tells you how to do that in Photoshop. The online magazine is free and well worth looking into as it covers all aspects DAZ Studio.
I think you have to set up an account at issuu.com but I am not sure.

    Hope this helps

I don't have photoshop, but presumably you would want an option to either convert the image entirely to greyscale to eliminate all color, then mess with the brightness and contrast. Or if you want it to be slightly off white but not completely devoid of color, look for an option that allows you to control the saturation of various colors and fade them way down perhaps.

There is actually a colour pack for elven hair, which does have a very light colour included http://www.daz3d.com/colors-for-elven-hair

I'd do that in PowerPoint. Most people have Office, so it is a good investment to learn texturing in it as this way you save on separate texture packs. Do you want my assistance with the application?

CS3 is too old. You should have access to CS6 as part of your CC license, I think - that will work. Or you can just use the regular file operations to go from one application to another.

Are you sure you did? Because I don't see any messages. Anyway, I'm writing a short tutorial and will upload it to DA where everyone can find it easily. Just remember you - in most cases - cannot distribute the maps. I suppose I could write a tutorial on how I texture and photomanipulate in PP, but it has to wait.
