    Hi, thanks. How can I access the Daz log and the configuration file please?

    Have you installed the Content BEFORE trying to install the Smart Content?

  • MatroniusMatronius Posts: 118

    Yes, of course. The error comes when I install the content

  • MatroniusMatronius Posts: 118

    I also tried to cancel the /general/Abalone folder, to no avail. Is there any way to "erase" the memory of Content Wizard, so it does not keep looking at this mysterious folder whenever I install something else?

  • MatroniusMatronius Posts: 118

    Content Wizard is working in Daz Studio's beta version 4.22, but not in the original Daz Studio. How strange!

  • MatroniusMatronius Posts: 118

    Sounds like I will have to use the beta version from now on...but if you have any ideas about a possible fix to reset Content Wizard in Daz Studio and prevent this never-ending, loop installation of the HeadShopPro tool, please let me know!!!!!

    Try manually emptying the working directory (it looks like you set it to F:/Daz3D unified library/Applications/Data/DAZ 3D//DAZStudio4 Temp/SCI/")

    Thanks. I did try manually emptying the working directory....and it did work!!!! Thanks a lot!!!! I will keep this in mind for the next time I get stuck

    Great!  I am glad that worked.  For some reason, the script sometimes gets stuck itself trying to clear that directory.

    Also, any chance that you could publish a revamped version of the Content Wizard at some point, with native support for several different 3D shops? I have noticed that the batch installer actually works wonders with Daz3d products, but usually fails with any other third-party content. that would be a massive help as at present I need to manually install all third-party products.

    There isn't native support for any shop.  I include some shops in the constants file, but all of the metadata matching is done using Daz standards.  The problem is that many vendors at other sites do not follow any standards, or do it poorly.

    OK. But surely you could improve the software to allow it to properly recognise different structures, right? Likely the same "wrong" structure is consistently repeated in each specific shop

    I don't have enough content from other shops to know that.  R is the only one I have any amount of content from and in general they are not too bad.

  • I'm having trouble installing Content Wizard.

    To be honest, I'm having horrendous trouble with Smart Content--it doesn't work at all unless I install first via DIM and then update metadata and install through Daz Connect (long story involving moving content to a different drive, which might be the stupidest thing I ever did). Obviously that's absurd, so I thought Content Wizard would help me install everything from Content Library. But I can't get CW to run from Content Library (I can't use it from Smart Content because see above).

    Here's the log file for when I try to run it from Content Library after installing via DIM:

    Any ideas? I would really really like to get this working so I don't have to install 700+ items one by one with Daz Connect. I know I've probably messed up the file paths for my installations somewhere, but nobody will tell me what I've done wrong!

    Eek, what must be wrong in your system?!?  The sIncludeFileExt is defined in RSConstants.dsa, which CW loaded, so there is no reason why it should not be able to find it.  I usually tell people CW should be installed from DIM not Daz Connect to work (and all files deleted from /My Daz Connect Library/data/cloud/1_67507).  However, with your system, I am not sure if that will even work.

    I only wish I knew. I've been trying to work it out for weeks now, and I've asked for help in several places but the replies have dried up now since nothing is working. Apparently hardly anyone uses Daz on a Mac, which is part of the problem.

    I've uninstalled and reinstalled and unimported and reimported and even signed up to a fresh account so I could copy the default paths, but that still hasn't fixed my Smart Content problem. The fresh account did at least get CMS running and I even managed to install Content Wizard but... it still can't get Smart Content to recognise anything. So I'm having to reinstall everything via Daz Connect. And will have to continue doing that in the future for everything I buy. Which is stupid. But it also appears to be the only way I can actually use Daz at all now.

     form what I can see you are using a Mac. PLUS you have installed CW via DAZ connect (i.e. you have the cloud data path in there). I have moved all my DAZ data to an extrnal file storage (Synology NAS, connected as a network share) and that does work with no issues other than being slightly slower).

    I would suggest the following:

    1. Uninstall CW from your system - start with DIM to uninstall, if you also tried a DIM installation.
    2. Once done, close DIM and start DS - you need to remove the DAZ Connect install, and that can only be done inside DS
    3. Open the Content Library tab. You shoiuld see a list of directories. Navigate to the bottom of the list. There should be an item labled "Products"
    4. Open the "Products" folder. You see a list of numbers and letters. Open the section starting with "C" (as this is the first letter in the product name, Content Wizard is sorted into that folder)
    5. Locate CW in that subfolder. Right-click on the CW icon. A menu should pop up.
    6. From that menu, select "Delete". That action should be the second entry in the menu. A dialog pops up asking if you really want to remove that product. Select "yes"
    7. The product will be removed from that list. Wait until the product list is refreshed
    8. Exit from DS

    Next, you need to clean the file system.

    1. In Finder, navigate to /Volumes/RedBackup/Users/etaktrash/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Daz Connect Library/data/cloud
    2. locate the 1_67507 folder and remove it

    Now you should be able to do a clean install of CW via DIM. As @RiversoftArt already stated, try to avoid installing anything using DAZ connect. Especially script-based products are a nightmare to use - if they work at all.

    It usually is safe to use DAZ Connect to update metadata only, but that will happen automatically if you connect, so no need to start anything. INSTALLING via DAZ Connect is a totally different beast.

    Side note: If you have other products from @RiversoftArt, you also need to have those installed via DIM only, as these prodcust may share scripts, e.g. /riversoft art/common/rsconstants.dsa

    Thanks, but I can't do that: when I try to delete CW from the product library, I don't have the option to do it (screenshot).

    I've never installed anything via Daz Connect until now; TBH I'd never even heard of it until recently, when it became the ONLY way I could use Smart Content. Now it appears to be the work of the devil and everyone hates it, although I still don't know why. Currently it's the only way I can use any of my Daz content.

    My problem is I can't get Smart Content to work AT ALL if I have my content moved to an external hard drive (because my Mac hard drive is full). I'm told it should be possible, but nobody seems able to actually tell me how, and adapting the guidelines for Windows has completely broken it. So my options are a) put it all back on the Mac hard drive, where I don't want it; b) use everything through the Content Library, which is SO clunky I hate it; or c) install everything through Daz Connect so I can use Smart Content.

    Okay, I have FINALLY fixed my problem! It turned out to be nothing to do with the install paths but rather thr formating of the external drive: it was case-specific which was messing everything up. Now I've reformatted the drive (to APFS, if anyone else has this problem: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/16599/the-mac-faq/p72) I can install content properly via DIM; I still have a load of non-Daz content to reinstall though which I hope CW can help with. Phew!

    Awesome!  I am glad you figured out your issue.

    Hello !

    I have trouble to find how to generate smart content without using a zip file.

    Let me explain.

    A few months ago, I bought more than a hundred products on Renderosity and I installed these products manually on a dedicated hard drive each time and then deleted the zip archives.

    Recently, I wanted to generate the smart content of all the products on this dedicated hard drive with CW but I don't see how to do that without using the zip archives.

    So I had the idea to create a zip archive including absolutely the entire folder of my special Renderosity library like it was a really BIG product and the archive looks like this:
    G:\AllRendoLib.zip\Content\(All the files like Data, Runtime, People, etc).

    Maybe the archive is too heavy for CW (~450GB), but when I run the analysis, it tells me "No User Facing...".
    I should point out that I took care to check that the SCI working directory is empty and that I have more than enough space to work (10TB).

    My question is: Am I stupid? Or is there a way to generate smart content directly from my already installed rendo library without going through any zip archive?

    Thanks in advance.

    Edit : Ok, i have found my answer in the comments section of your YT video tutorial.

    The question was : "Sorry for this stupid question but is it possible to generate Smart Content Metadata right inside DAZ for installed content? I have a lot of products from sites like Renderosity and I don't want to redownload and reinstall every single product. That would be great, thank you!"

    And your answer was : "You need the zip files as CW would have no idea what files are part of the product. You don't need to reinstall them necessarily as long as the paths don't change from the zip, but the zips are definitely needed."

    I'm really sad... Look like i will have to redownload every single products :(

    It would be great, in the future, to be able to tell CW to simply scan a specific pointed library or a specific pointed folder to generate SC.

  • Well, if you know which folders belong to which product you can manually generate metadata. It would probably be possible, to an extent, to have a script guess using the paths in the .duf files (though that might combine outfits anbd texture packs, or all the characters created by a specific vendor) - but of course someone would have to write the script.

    If these are older products (V4 era), they might not have user facing files like later stuff.  However, even if you got it to work, I would not recommend it as even if it worked, it would take forever.  And more than likely, you would make a mistake somewhere and CW would generate metadata for an asset already in another Daz product, causing DS to get confused.

    The zips are really needed to help CW figure out what refers to what.  It was and is incredibly hard to figure out what files are since places like Rendo do not enforce the Daz rules.  The zips made it easier.

    Sorry,

    Hello Riversoft;
    after the last update of DAZ Studio to version 4.22.0.19
    after installing the metadata in the smart content CW is not closed properly.
    Either items of clothing or figures from different stores remain in the scene!
    Is there an update or another solution for this?

    It's pretty annoying to have to close and restart DAZ every time!

    Thanks
    Dieter

    For me, CW finishes.  However, it IS slower.  Looking at the Daz log for when CW is installing Smart Content, I see a lot of this:

    2024-10-09 07:07:55.928 [INFO] :: Clearing the scene...
    2024-10-09 07:10:39.938 [INFO] :: Loaded image: Fabric 1_Color.jpg
    2024-10-09 07:10:39.975 [WARNING] :: QWidget::repaint: Recursive repaint detected
    2024-10-09 07:10:40.092 [INFO] :: *** Scene Cleared ***

    Notice the BIG time gap between when the script calls Scene.clear() and the scene ACTUALLY being cleared.  I don't think I can do anything about that.  The call is an atomic operation (i.e., one line of code) that the script has no control over.  I will keep investigating though.
